Hi everybody. Just thought Id keep you up to date with my chippies. I had asked before about letting my chipmunks out of there cage occasionally. For there own mental well being. I received some advice and it all worked a charm. I let Cybil out of her cage, but before that I totally chipmunk proofed my room. Covering up awkward nooks and crannies. At first Cybil didnt know what to do, but after a minute he took off. Pure hyper around the room. I think he loved it. But then he started to chirp/mumble. I think its the warning call they give. Im not sure. That got me thinking that he must be terrified. But alas, my patience with his roaming around finally won him over. I couldnt believe it when I went to pick him up. He was totally calm and had no problem with me picking him up, walking across the room , and putting him back in his cage. I rewarded him with some monkey nuts for his good behavior. Im really happy I listened to you all and took the chance.I was very weary. My very first chipmunk, Woody R.I.P
, lost half his tail, from nothing other than a sheer lack of knowledge on my behalf. It was my first night with him. He was given to me as a present from my girlfriend. I never knew how unbelievably fast they were. I learned fast!!! Im gonna try it with Frasier, my other chippie tomorrow.

I let Frasier out today. He acted completely different than Cybil. Not hyper, just extremely curious. I let Cybil out afterward.I think it makes them happy

Ha, your right tarcus
, I let both of them out today. Holy crap, totally different. Both of them are completely hyper. Frasier even climbed up on top of my head and took pride in his super high observation post!!! He was even staring at himself in the mirror!! I dont think there is any other pet as adventurous as a chipie

I'm so happy that its going well for you! I found my chippies loved the freedom too! So much so that everytime I walked in the room they would pace the cage waiting to be let out.
Candy is the curious one and wag was the adventurous one! I too have been through the "proud" sitting on the head lol. I'm glad your enjoying it
