They don't normally venture out until they are around 4-5 weeks old. It's quite exciting once they start. Because i don't look in the nest boxes i never know how many i have either!
I tend to find that the stronger one's venture out first & a few days later you will see a few more. Trouble is, until they have all ventured out & are all out together you can't count them because you never know if you're counting the same one's or not.!
I remember once thinking i had a litter of 5 when there was in fact 9!
I've bred this way for years & have always resisted having a look. I guess i enjoy the element of suprise!
