Hi
I have two chipmunks living together inside and one of them has been sleeping more than usual the last couple of days so I took a look at him today and noticed his fur was looking different. It looks like it is thinning and as he was climbing I saw a bald patch just under his front leg on his tummy. Its hard to see really exactly what the skin looks like on this area as he wont sit still for me to see but I was trying to see him for a while and noticed him itching a lot and also he seemed to be constantly licking or 'playing' with his 'bits'. When I looked it also looked like he had lost fur from here. My original thought is fleas, however I dont know how he would have gotten them. The only other animal I have indoors is a hamster but they do not have contact, and she does not have fleas! The other chipmunk doesn't appear to be affected, however I am aware that if it is fleas he will have them, which is why I am unsure, as I haven't noticed him itching at all.
Does this sound like fleas or could it be something else?
