chirping

I'm new to keeping chipmunks and have come across a problem. do males chirp?? as i was told my chipmunk (nasher) was a male but he has stated chirping. It doesn't sound like a female mating chirp, are there different types, I'm a bit confused.

my males certainly chirp usually in response to a female but mine have chirped even when the fems weren't in season

My male chirps occassionally. It's a very cute little sound, very different from the female breeding chirp and it's usually when he's concerned about Chip (my female) if he can't find her, or if he can hear birds outside. I think it's just a way of calling/ alerting other chipmunks.

I've heard Tiny have two different chirps  One is defiantly a scared chirp and the other sounds like he's calling for other chips  x

my bitsy who has 4 week old babies has been chirping for the last 3 days but its not a mating chirp it a quieter and less frequent chirp

She sounds agitated as if something is not quite right somewhere along the line, perhaps she feels it is unsafe where she has her babies but can find no where to take them too or perhaps the dad is too close for comfort.
I would check that all is well in the nest taking care not to touch any of the little ones and if possible give her another box to take her young ones too if she feels it is what she wants.
Of course she may very well just be moaning about having to do all the work herself

no not at all she seems quite happy she's coming out more and running in her wheel and has lost alot of her baby weight lol i chirp at her and she chirps back and the babies are get a bit mobile now so she leaves dad to lokk after them, and this behaviour is pretty normal for her after babies 
i think she just wants some attention instead of her babies
