Hi,

I think you will find that one is a male, if you can get a picture we can confirm but if its a male don't worry its normal and I have noticed it is darker on the Agouti (normal) colour Chipmunk

HI thanks for getting back to me, its rather large the bulge and the other chipmunk we have seems to be humping the one with the big bulge. It seems to be putting weight on and its acting really strange today just sat on the bottom of the cage and not in its house and it has squeaked loud a few times? whilst the smaller chipmunk has been out the cage had a run around and got loads of energy. I might be getting confused thougt this might be signs of a pregnancy?

Photos would be helpful.  Is the bulge on the underbelly and towards the back near the hind legs?

At the bottom of the text window there's a + Attachments and other options....... click that which will bring up more options, below that is the attach box where you can browse your PC for the pic you want.  :)

Cheers Nick, is it normal for the male to be so quiet and hid en a corner whilst the female one is jumping on its back? Also just been a bit of an accident and rosie (whom im guessing is a female as there is no bulge) has just ost the end of her tai and seems to be chewing on what looks like a vein, any help?

It sounds like they are just sorting out the pecking order, some has to be in charge and lets face it, its always the women who call the shots...   :sign10:
There's lots on herer who's chippies have lost bits of their tails, I wouldn't worry about it too much, they know what do and will clean it and sort it out.

Absolutely!

Ok UK forum members.  I have noticed that buddy's bits recede into his body and then descend at certain times of the year.  since I can't handle martyn yet, I can't tell if this happens with him.

what have the other members noticed?

Yep looks like a normal male Chipmunk to me, my four boys all indoors look like that at the moment but Tiny hasn't got his fully yet he is the youngest about 9 months old. The two adult boys bits receded about end of July last year and sometime in December descended again and only the last few weeks they have become very noticable especially on Nugget (nearly 3 years old) and Scabbers (11 months old). My oldest male is Asriel and he is nearly 4 years old.

The weirdest thing I had last breeding season was two Sisters trying to mate one another (that's what it looked like) infront of the male who was in with them, both were in season on the same day but the boy was only interested in breeding with one and I think the girl who was left out well she wasn't happy about it.  :dontknow:
