My little buggers!
« on: November 08, 2011, 08:43:30 PM »
So the chipmunks found themselves a new hidey hole :-\  It was a hole to the floorboards behind where my skirten board should be but was covered with a bit of MDF as we had to rip it out ages ago. Always thought it was safe until the chips chewed a hole through it. Anyway one was in it today but i lured him out and the hole will be covered properly tomorrow, thats for sure! So they are all locked up and not very happy. I've noticed them going in the corner where it is before as Geordies cage is there and he's alway telling on them when they're there, I just assumed they were teasing him and burying their nuts in the corner, Anyway i just thought i'd let everyone know haha :happy7: Get everything back to normal tomorrow :icon_salut:

That was lucky, got to think like a chippie to stay 1 step ahead of them. I had chicken wire on the floor of my aviary at first, till i realised it rotted very quickly, but not before Cream had broke through it, dug down 6 inch then tunnelled straight out under the shed, I thought that was the I'd see of her, but she came out at dinner time and I had to put the pair on lock down while I redid the floor! I think they must have seen Chicken run!  :laughing4:

Yeah luckily i found this site and i got told to do the outside avairy floor with slabs then cover with chips. Although they still had one digging patch lined with mesh, we've filled that in now though and i'm going to build them a build them a huge box for digging in instead, No more films for them then :laughing4: Little escape artists. Oh well i've found it now so they're safe, phew! :)

Im half way through building a second aviary and was hoping on a late litter to help pay for it, but it wasn't to be, so it'll have to wait till spring

:laughing4: :laughing4: And here's me thinking my chippies were little so and so's. seems like they give you all a few grey hairs. They are like wayward children. LOL
Yuki had a field day with a pair of my husband's underpants the other day chewed what she could chew and then curled up in them and promptly went to sleep she was soon followed by the others.

They have taken to shoving their boxes around the cage and now sleep behind them, all curled up in a heap. Is this normal?

Mine did the same during summer, prefered to sleep behind their box in a corner, I think it was just too warm inside their next box, they are sleeping back inside them now.

Thanks for that Nick, to be honest that's something that didn't occur to me, must be getting daft in my old age.. Anyway glad to know that it's normal for them to be sleeping outside their boxes, judging by the amount of food they squirrel away (pardon the pun) I wonder they have room in their boxes anyway LOL
Smudge looked really funny the other day he's a mucky pup, I gave him a strawberry and it was all over him by the time he finished eating it, he went from being white to pink in no time at all, at least Treacle (white Female) Yuki and Max showed a little more decorum when eating theirs.
Anyway thanks again for that Nick...

Heating is getting expensive to run.. I think that maybe next year I'll do as the wild chipmunks do and hibernate.  :happy3:
