Chipmunk wanted South Yorkshire or Surrey over Easter Weekend

How annoying I see an advert for baby Chipmunks in Wakefield, only 11 miles from me and when I ring they are all gone and somebody came all the way from Sussex and had the lot.
Can I suggest we all stick to our own patches and stop pinching others, only joking.

So I'm still on the hunt for some, locally. I'm in Surrey over the weekend if anybody has any there or on the way.

I know of some in manchester so will travel if I have to, when I've got time, but would prefer to get them local.

Why is it pet shops seem to be stopping selling them?

pet shops will source chips from the same people you are trying to buy from but will screw the owners/breeders into selling them for very little money so as to make it profitable. many will charge £50 each and will only sell you males. best to stick to this type of site and find what you want from someone who knows what they are doing

Hamster is still missing!

Jennyb - Cavity? A house has two walls with the gap in the middle, this is the cavity it runs the full height of the house. the floor joists run through the cavity, so they can dig through the mortar in to the cavity. This is how you get mice in the house and in the loft!!! OK thats enough diy for this weekend!!! lol

Tarcus - Before this site, I took my chips to the pet shop, I thought they would be to difficult for me to sell private! Little did I know! lol I was paid from £7 to £15 each, range of prices near me are from £20 to £35. Whites being £35. But they are still in short supply at the mo.

Teresa - How annoying is that! Chase them down south and bring the lot back!!! lol I haven't rung around for a while, but I will give it ago and see what I can come up with. Have a good weekend.

Why is it pet shops seem to be stopping selling them?

I think it maybe that pet shops get a lot returned. Because of a chipmunks attractive looks they may get bought almost on impulse, then when new owners have them they find things are not quite as they thought.

So from a pet shops point of view their must be easier pets to sell.

One of our females has given birth but I cant get there to have a sneeky peek as she is protective over the nesting box at the moment, but should be some available in Nottingham really soon if thats any good for anyone

Teresa, i know how frustrating it can be to find chipmunks local. It took me two years to get my male Dilute! I just contacted someone the other day for some chips who was near to me but they have already been sold even though they were only born a week ago!

It may take you some time before you can get some but i'm sure you will get them eventually but it may take some time, although now should be the best time as most are born in spring and summer. Hope you find some soon.

Two brown hand reared females would be fantastic (or even one brown and one white).  I've got a good sized outside aviary going up soon and I've got one male chipmunk.

so so so excited!!! We have just looked and there are six, all agouti. Stripes coming through.

are you still wanting 2 baby females ? If so I will make sure that they are saved for you Checking the sexes this weekend, but on initial glance I think we have 3 of each. One guy at work wants 2 of the same sex so if you want females, I will make sure that they are yours. Let us know.
