I'm glad to hear the hiccup chirp is normal, as I was worried I was doing something wrong. Mine wicka and chatter quite a lot it's lovely to hear, I would love to know what they are saying to one another.
I've got them quite tame now, They happily take food from me and will sit on my hand to eat food, and let me stroke them. Smudge likes to have the odd nibble at my fingers, but it doesn't really hurt and after all it has to be expected it's just their way. He's what I call the rambuncious one of the 4. Yuki has taken a liking to my t shirts and will happily try to shred them when I have to go into their cage. Max is Insane and loves his Rat wheel  he looks very funny going like the clappers in the wheel with a nut in his mouth, he's very like Smudge in some ways. Treacle is the quiet one but she watches everything that is going on. They love Tomatoes by the way.
They all sleep together in the same box, but on the odd occation just lately they've been curled up together on top on their box they look very sweet, Max and Yuki remind me of cinnanmon swirls when they curled up together, and because of the way Smudge and Treacle sleep with them Max and Yuki looked like they've been iced too.
Either way I love them to bits and they ar terribly spoilt, and I think in their own way they love me too.

Good to hear yours are taming up well Loopylou. My outdoor chips are pretty shy but will sit and climb on you and accept treats. The 4 in the big avairy inside are very tame, They jump all over and i can pick them up and put them back into their cage whenever i need. Lilo who is in a seperate cage (she used to be outdoors but got ill and had to be brought in and when put back out, she was not happy) She is extremely tame. I can pick her up she sits on me, lies in my pocket and hides food all over me. She comes over for kisses :love7: and is just brilliant. My other boy Geordie who also has his own cage was terribly shy when i first got him but with a bit of love and plenty time in my room with me he is slowly coming round. He will climb on me and accept treats and doesn't run away as much. He gets on well with me but not usually with other chips, until Lilo put him in his place. The 3 girls in the big inside aviary and Geordie will all be moving outside next year and Lilo and the left over boy will move in together. Good luck with chips and i'm sure all animals love their owners :)
