It can be trial and error in different techniques. Give them just 1 room to explore so they have less places to hide, and take away their food bowl so you can put their food back in their cage to cox them back in, often they go back in on their own accord. Oh and try not to let them out for a few weeks so they know their cage is their safe place coz once they taste freedom then they always want out

Hello,
i never experienced any problems with mine to get back into their cage.First of all, your chippies need to be confident enough to eat in your hand in the cage and walk on your arm.As the previous person said,it's good to only let them explore one room at a time. You can use the fact that they go back inside the cage for a snack or a drink and then close after them.Or if one go in to do so,then you only have one to catch. You could then lure the other with a treat.Or sometimes when they have enough they go back in their cage themselves. If one is reluctant to go back inside what i do is to pop a transparent tube over him and then put my hand on the entrance of the tube or little container and bring him in the cage via the tube.that works 100% with mine. Some people use a fish net.
Hope it will help.

I've had different expeirences with all mine, but the same as above with your 2, I had 1 called Lilo who always goes back to bed after her time out. Geordie my lone boy, normally goes back to bed by himself, although once he had a late night at i had to catch him little bugger. I have currently just got 4 chipmunks who live inside and they were extremely friendly when i got them and after a couple weeks inside they came out, they go back to bed themselves too but if i need to put them in then i can pick them up. I think it depends on how tame the chipmunk is aswell, as unfriendly ones you can't catch as easy, but with tame ones they can be a lot easier. You need your chipmunk to trust you and not be nervous around you, this is why you should try and get them used to you then handle them as much as possible so they become super friendly, The ones in the pet shop probably didn't have much contact with humans, thus is being harder to get them back in. Either way you will get some great advice on this site and i wish you the best when you get your little chippies :icon_cheers:

I just give mine a peanut, and she opens it, puts the nuts in her cheeks, then she runs back to her cage to store them.
When I first got her, I followed some advice I found online, and kept her in her cage for the first week or so, so she knows it's her bit.

Lots of time and patience, do every thing on the chippies terms, plus lots of treats to bride them. They are so nosey, they just cant help them selves.

when you come on friday i can explain things a bit better to you in person, and you'll get an idea of what kinda stuff to put in your cage for him, but theres lots of tricks to catch em n tease em back in2 the cage but the one your takin goes back on his own when he's had enough
