Bubbie!
« on: October 16, 2011, 03:56:21 PM »
Hey this is the Chipmunk I got 5 or so weeks ago, Bubbie. Pinkpill and a few others of you will have seen these pictures in another thread.

Apart from one or two bites, she's very tame and will think nothing of climbing up and down my face  :P
She really likes coconut and bananas, and is easily manipulated with food

I know her cage looks very bare in the middle picture, but that was taken in the first couple of days I had her. I've since gotten a big chunk of a tree at the bottom of the cage. It's a 3-tier ferret cage, with the middle level taken out for jumping room

yeah I still want to get more stuff for her to play in, since she doesn't bother with the wheel (you should see the burrow she's built under that wheel though, it's huge!)

Any ideas for more stuff I can fit in this cage? I want to get more tubes and platforms and stuff, but I'm not sure where the best place is to get them since most pet shops charge crazy amounts for that sort of thing

Building sights are a good source for old/broken/surplus drain pipes. Second hand shops are good for such things as tubing from old tumble dryers. Ask around friends see if any were lucky enough to have whiskey bottles in tubes. Branches from trees do not have to be too thick to be useful placed on an angle across the corners you can wedge them in the mesh.
Try moving the nest box to the top shelf and take out the middle shelf then you can get a larger branch to stand from top to bottom.
CHIPMUNKS;LIKE ALL ANIMALS ARE FOR LIFE NOT JUST FOR FASHION STATUS.

she doesn't even use the nest box to sleep in any more, she just stores nuts in there and builds little bunkers to sleep in down the bottom  :P

Oh man, I just gave her a boiled egg and she LAUNCHED at it. I don't think I've ever seen anything so excited about food

I wonder if she'd take to one of the "flying saucer" things for running on
