Chipmunk Mix- Which brand do people buy the most?

Hi all, Just a poll to see out of big interest what brand of chipmunk food people buy the most. Been wanting to do this for a while, submit your anwser!

Also if your choice was `Other` please state what it is. Wil be interesting to see the results!

Here in the US, these products are not available, unfortunately.

I use Higgins premium Mayan Harvest bird food and add lots of different nuts, veggies and fruits.

I use beaphar xtravital chipmunk food, we go to a local pet shop wo order it in for us and then we collect in from them. My chipmunks love it and my mice like it as a treat too

The Johnson and Jeff is the only one ive tried, seems to be a good mix, and i think i have enough to last the next 2 years.

I also add to it a couple of hazelnuts, a few dried mealworms and some Asdas cereal crunch, they love the cereal, must be the oats and honey

i make my own, hamster food then add, rice krispies, cornflakes, branflakes, lentils, unpopped corn, dried carrots, leeks and tomatoes, barley, mixed seeds, mixed nuts n dried fruit, and anything else i can think of to mix in

i do buy in bulk though and mix in a large sealable dustbin

When i first had Chipmunks they ate Burgess Supa Chipmunk and really liked it but then the food was discontinued so then i fed Pets at Home Muesli but they didn't like that so now they eat Beaphar XtraVital Chipmunk which they like. I've also given some fruit Hamster food in the past which they liked.

I've never seen a chip mix as such anywhere and I go to loads of pet shops. I feed mine  parrot mix and a hamster mix and museli plus stuff I forage.  Squirrel nutkins is going to have a hard winter this year coz yesterday I stripped his oak tree of acorns.    and the local blackberries and hawthorn etc.

At the moment im using Johnson and Jeff and it is good value for money! The bag is very heavy and quite big (compared to the standard small packets of other brands) but it is very good and will be good for those who have loads of chipmunks. Also it is for wildl squirrels too so i get even more for my money with it as the squirrels can be fed too

It has monkey nuts in too, it has a lot of sunflower seeds and sweetcorn in but i really like it as its a fine mix and doesnt seem to be clumpy or sugary like some others ive come across

Marci- Its a shame that you cant get any chipmunk food in the US, but i also use bird seed mix too so its good that youre making up youre own mix with the bird seed as a base

Peter i tried beaphar and didnt like it as in my opinion its very clumpy like hamster food, my chipmunk didnt tuck into it as much as with others but im glad i tried it (i read it has molluscs and crustaceans in)

Pinkpill yours sounds like a super nutrious crazy tasty mix lol youve got a lot of chips so its essential to buy in bulk isnt it. greedy bobs probably scoffs a lot of it 

Jen oh yeah burgess supa chipmunk, i LOVED  that, it was a shame they discontinued it as i thought it was realy good. the pets at home one a lotof that was wasted

mt chips ive heard people useing hamster food as a base, i was doing that a few months ago tried feeding some but didnt see to like it much

I find the beaphar quite good, mine has never been clumpy and has always had a great mix of foods for them. Plus i have found absolutely nowhere else to buy it from in Edinburgh, i only know of one other person who has them but doesn't breed them. I might try giving them a home mix Pinkpill and see what they think of that as it would last longer and no more constant trips for more food

yeah ilovechips, got the 12.5kg bag, so should last me ages, tho when it arrived the bag was bust so there was quite a few escaped seeds and nuts

there is a site that you can buy all the hamster food ingredients seperate, ie. flaked peas,flaked corn, and then dried veg, even beetroot biscuits which go down well, so if you find the bits theyre not eating you dont need to add them again. i will post the link later as its on my other pc, but theyve got quite a variety

Also going to shop around and get different bits and bobs for them and my mice. I live on a dairy farm with lots of fields around but there just nothing else grows really so i can never find them anything out there except daisys and dandelions! Will be going looking for all the different foods this weekend for them

For a treat mine get a mixing of fruity parrot mix with their staple diet of Johnson and Jeff they especially enjoy the dried banana and pineapple but are not too keen on the fresh variety which I put down to the extra concentration of sugar in the dried stuff.
