Toxic free wood preservative
« on: April 02, 2009, 08:32:00 PM »
Hi

Just building the aviary, I would prefer not to use ready treated wood in case the chips chew the wood, so I am using untreated. Question is any suggestion on Toxic free wood preservative suitable for pets? The aviary will be meshed both sides but even then I think there will be some they can get to.

I think you will find in todays market all wood preservatives claim to be pet and garden friendly. Any good D.I.Y. store will also be able to offer practicle advice on the right solution to use. Personally I dont use wood preserver on my aviaries as they never seem to last longer than the five years it takes for the wood to get to a rotting stage due to my wanting to add/extend or simply change the style for the chips.

Last one I made is bare on the inside and gloss painted on the outside.

|It has of course been extended twice and no doubt will be remodeled next year when I decide if I want it wider/taller/smaller or even divided for the inclusion of more lovely critters :icon_flower:

CHIPMUNKS;LIKE ALL ANIMALS ARE FOR LIFE NOT JUST FOR FASHION STATUS.
