Hmmmm it's a tricky one.  :icon_scratch:

What about sticking some food to the pipe bit. If they have to lick it they might get some water out and learn where it is.

I was going to say the same thing - a tiny amount of yoghurt smeared on the end of the pipe and he'll soon get the hang of it  :happy7:

Seriously just put a water bottle in place and remove the water bowl.
Your chippy will soon learn when he gets thirsty. >:DIt may seem cruel but honestly he will get used to it.

Hi Mario,

If your still unsure, put the empty water bowl under the water bottle, so he still goes to the same area.

How is every thing else going.  Has he been coming out more? what is he like?

Hi well this mornin he woke me up becuase he was running around but i noticed he was drinking out of the water bottle i think he prefers the bowl but he does drink out of the bottle so ive take the bowl away and he seems to be using the bottle nw.

He is well hes out alot more now, he is use to all the family except the dog, they just seem to stare each other out lol, i still want to put some more stuff in his cage because i think it doesnt have enough stuff for him to explore, he not as shy anymore hes been taking monkey nuts out of my hand and as he does i stroke him which he doesnt mind so its all good.

Interesting reading, I've just put a bowl in my chipmunk cage as he did not seem to like using the bottle.
I put a dish of water in for him to explore and the first thing he did was to drink loads of it.  The bottle is a little strange as its not a rollerball one it pushes up???
Think I'll get some rollerball ones as when he goes in the aviary I would prefer them to use bottles.
Glad you got him sorted and he's coming round.  Herbie lets me stroke him a little then he moves away.
Try hanging a sock in for him, Herbie loves his and he's even started to sleep in it.
I got some sisal rope from B&Q only £1.30 a meter.
Just a few ideas of thing to put in and cheap too.  I'm going to need loads more when we get the aviary up

I just put a couple of socks in for mine to explore. Old football ones cut in half, and washed or they would die  :angel7:

I'm using both the bowls and the water bottles. The problem with the water bowles is they tend to drop food in them, so they need changing more often. But given a choice all my chips prefer the bowls, it maybe because chipmunks lap their water as they can't suck.
