Babies for Lottie! Born 18th April 2011

Hermione's daughter from last year has just had some babies. Lottie and Nugget mated 18th March and she gave birth after a 31 day gestation. This is the first litter Nugget has sired.

The babies were born sometime sunday night or early monday morning they were there at 6.45am on monday when i went out to check, i heard squeaking but didn't look at them.

It seems both Lottie and Isabella her sister are looking after the babies and both are feeding them i think. Both girls look like they have been suckled. I've also seen both girls picking the babies up.

The babies all have a black stripe on nose and dark eyes. I've never seen babies so young before. There are four girls and two boys.

i feel so lucky to be a part of of these babies lives.

To be honest i don't know what colour they will be. Heres where i'm hoping someone who's had more baby experience than me can chip in.

Hermione's babies are Dilute and they don't have the stripe on the nose but then i saw them older than these so maybe they did have to stripe to begin with.

they look like they will be dilutes from what i can see  as they seem to have that white sheen on them, but i cant be sure from a pic, but if theyre eyes are very dark to black theyll be agoutis and if theyre eyes are more pink to dark red then theyll be dilutes

I'm leaning toward Agouti because of the stripe and their eyes are darker than Hermione's Dilute babies also the bodies look a darker pink i think than Hermione's babies did when about the same age. These will be my first Agoutis.

they could be cinns?? isnt nugget a cinn?? as i would imagine they would be the same as the agouti in the darker eye department  its lovely when you get some that you havent had before  when i first got my bitsy n bobs i was so surprised, as the ones i used to keep many years before were all brown, and i never even knew you could get dilutes, i assumed there would be albinos as they happen in most species, but they were lovely

Yeah you and Marci are right Nugget is a Cinnamon.

I thought they looked abit dark for Cinnamons but then i've never had Agouti babies to compare with. I only remember what my Cinnamons i had born in the past looked like once they had their fur, it was only then i knew they were Cinnamon. Guess its just wait and see at the moment.

I saw my first Dilutes in books and thought how beautiful. I didn't think i'd get one so soon after getting my first Chipmunks but the first year i got my Agouti's i was lucky to get two Dilutes aswell.

Yeah the chance is there for Cinnamons but since Nugget also has Agouti siblings and has Agouti parents and Lottie's grandparents were Agouti i also think Agouti is a possibility.

12 babies altogether at the moment. Willow pregnant too.

Girl 1  7g       7cm
Girl 2  8g       7cm
Girl 3  7/8g    6cm
Girl 4  8g       6 1/2cm
Boy 1 8g       6 1/2cm
Boy 2 6/7g    between 6 and 6 1/2cm

First pic is a pic of one of Hermione's Dilute babies 4 days old, same age as Lottie's were yesterday, he didn't have a stripe.

I would love to keep them all but we haven't got room.

I will probably keep one or two , maybe one of Lottie's and one of Willow's. The rest will go to new homes.

Thanks Sarah, got some new pics yesterday i'm quite sure they are all Agouti the fur i can see looks dark but interested to hear what you think they are.
