  I found the vid very good but they still do not tell you that they only supply the pet trade and not the public, also if you were to make a vid you would only let people see what you wont them to see or hear? it would also be interesting to no if they supply pets at home or not, as we all no about them?

Im sure they have supplied pets at home as there have been bad comments in regards to them supplying pets at home with some of the other animals. if you type in simons rodents on google you will see the comments people have made

thats odd as they have always replied to me. yeah give them a call, those poor chippies you dont know how well they are being looked after or if they are being looked after at all

It must be very difficult to run a commercial pet operation, because to make money they need the volumes. This is someones business, but it's not a business I could ever do.

I thought the video was revealing in what it didn't show, there were no wide shots showing what I suspect are rows of stacked animal cages. I don't mean just piled on top of one another, but I would think to make this commercially viable there would have to be sheds containing large numbers of cages. The mention of the mass watering system and commissioning their own recipe of food hints at this.

This is farming, which is all perfectly legal and subject to regular government inspections, but I would try hard to get my pet chipmunk from one of the regular breeders on here or I would also consider taking in a chipmunk that needed re homing.

Thanks for posting the video and photo Nate, its as i suspected they breed animals on a huge scale, those poor Hamsters and Mice in the vid they looked so crowded and there was multiple ages in the same litter so looks like the parents get no breaks from breeding. I agree with you Nate i couldn't do that kind of breeding.

OMG! this reminds me.. i used to work in a pet store about 3-4yrs ago (at the time i was in to keeping fancy rats) and i asked my boss if he could get in certain types.. well he found simons rodents... to my shock  and anger  about 8 rats arrived i think?, all different varieties, 1 of which a rat was dead, 1 had its head stuck under the lid (dead also) and another very small rat (barely old enough to be sold, it should of been with its mum for another 2weeks was amongst them) and the remaining rats, they were fine. well out of shock and annoyance i said "could I buy the lot, how much would that be?" luckily he let me buy them all and he didnt buy from simons rodents again (well while i was there, i think he found it too expensive also as its based on the isle of wight)

hi curlycritter, simons rodents should be out of business. Im glad i did not get any chipmunks sourced from them. It was tempting, as i had seen some cute chippies in a pet shop but found out they were from simons rodents. The fact that they let animals go so young is one of the reasons why they are bad. Also they label theyre animals "products" and many of the animals are badly bred and ill, or dead, as in your case with the rats. Also if you type them in on google there are many bad things people have said about them.

This `Simon` guy is probably sat at home rolling in money, making loads of money from the poor care of animals. I wish they would go out of buisness

dread to think what the place looks like if you went to visit... they must have loads of staff on hand or if not, they need it, looking at that google image.
