Sadly Amber has gone. We went away on a short holiday our first trip away since Blackpool 2007. Just got back and what we found was awful. When i went in the aviary Amber put her head up but didn't come over, which she always does i got worried and picked her up and i knew immediately it was really bad. I could see this cut on her back. I removed her immediately and took her indoors. I then could see things were worse than first i suspected. When i talked about Lottie's ear injury i said that was a vicious attack but this is what could only be described as vicious, Lottie's injury was nothing. Amber had injuries all over her body, both ears were bloody, one foot had been bitten, she had bites on her belly, a bite on her left side, a bite on her right. She had a bite on her body about half way up and one on the base of the tail and her rump. I began cleaning her injuries using salt water but one wound was infected the rump one. Once cleaned out with salt i used a human anti-sceptic spray, she seemed dehydrated so i syringed some water into her, she took abit, then got a hot water bottle and a towel to dry her. I tried her on the carpet and she couldn't stand up, she kept falling onto her side. The bite on her rump might of caused paraysis. I'm not sure but she could move all her legs, she just couldn't stand up. She was weak but breathing but next minute she'd stopped breathing, i tried CPR never done it before but it didn't work, she had gone. I'm still in shock can't believe this i knew the fighting was bad but never imagined this would happen. Amber was a sweetheart, i never saw her fighting, none of the others have any injuries so she didn't fight back. I'm also very sorry for Gail, i'm so sorry this has happened i shouldn't of left her with the other three but things did seem more settled lately than they had been, i thought they would all be fine but sadly not.
I have some pictures just to help other owners, warning they are distressing so please don't look if it will upset you, i hate that these are the last photos of her but her face remained untouched and was still beautiful. But please i hope this warns other owners never take a risk if they are fighting or have been fighting and leave them together or one may end up like Amber.
Rest in peace Amber
I'm not sure whether i will get another Chipmunk, couldn't go through this again. I feel it was Willow and Nutkin possibly both or one of them, they were most aggressive to Amber. For safety i will be removing Bailey and may now rehome the girls, i couldn't spend any time in there with them after i knew what they did.
