Advice on cage construction
«
on:

Hello
I am new to chipmunks and have reaserched them for around 5 weeks now.
I am putting the cage together now and was wondering what MUST go into the construction of the cage.
And what would make it better? Just some general advice on the cage, easy access etc.
Thanks Rob

I don't have my own chipmunks yet although I am nearly sure that 6 by 2.5 by 1.5 is too small.
Most people say that as tall as possible and then 4 by 4 is probably the minimum.

yeah i thought this but it is in my room and as big as i can make it.
But outside we are having a 6x6 foot and we are building this once we have got the chipmunks and find out what they like and everything.
Do you know anything that they really like? and what bedding is best to use?
Thanks Rob

OK but make sure that you let the chipmunks out every day to let them run around whilst they have the smaller aviary.

We are still making the cage now. Coming along great! New pics tomorrow and we wont have chance to build the out door aviary for around 2 months so should i let them settle into their new home then let them roam my room?
Thanks Rob

i would give em a week, just so they know its their home and can make it their own and then let them out, that way they'll go back in when they want their bed (well they should in theory anyway
)
