Pearl is ill again

Thanks AndreaT, aww your poor Gerbil i'm sorry she was so ill, yes i always try but whether i'm helping her i don't know. Its hard not really seeing any improvement.

I think she actually is worse today i took a few pics earlier, she looks awful

Pic three shows the eye which had white liquid in on tuesday, it is not leaking the liquid now. The other eye though looks like it might be going blind, pic four shows the other eye, it is no longer shiny, its sort of cloudy and that eye was the best one. She sounds terrible, i did record her and on the recording you can clearly hear the weezing. Its not looking good for her. Shes still not really eating, had a little yoghurt but not much more, she's had some water but really is probably not drinking enough, i've tried to syringe some Pedialyte, plain water and even tried fruit juice but neither she had much of. I'm surprised she has the strength she does, she may look weak but she still struggles when i try and feed her,she pushes the syringe away, kicks with her back feet, the claws are sharp which is why i have gloves on, she hasn't bitten but will kick alot. I have a hot water bottle under half the cage, under her bed and she has a rice buddy in her bed.

Aww Jenny I’m so sorry that Pearl is having such a struggle, she sounds like such a fighter.

I’m sorry to say that many of the symptoms echo what my chipmunk Sue went through, the laboured breathing and the eye problem.

She is lucky to have you, as you are giving her everything I think you can to make her as comfortable as possible, even hearing your voice must help a lot.

My thoughts are with you both.

Thanks Nate, i never expected her to survive the MBD in 2008 but she did and i realised then that she was a fighter but everytime she got ill again i thought that would be it, but she survived two more years and some of the time she has been healthy. I'm sad that i've only had her two years such a short time but am greatful for the time i did have her.
